Just monday this week, the Lagos chapter of Nigerian Union of Teachers commenced an indefinite strike action for all public primary and secondary schools in Lagos state due to unpaid wages. According to them, government had not implemented the agreed 27% wage increase. But did you think that you can get that only in Nigeria? Not at all.

The Teachers in England are angry too. According to news report, members of the National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers (NASUWT) have escalated its protest amid anger at the Government. Displayed on its website, NASUWT is the largest teachers' union in the UK and the only TUC-affiliated teachers’ union to represent teachers in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Iran unveils new drone fighter. Is the world getting safer?

Iranian media reported that Iran has just unveiled a "home made" long range robotic drone that has the capacity to fly far above most of the middle east region

The unmanned drone, named "Shahed (Witness) 129" has a range of 2,000km (1,240 miles) and could be equipped with bombs and missiles, said the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps.

According to media report, it is capable of carrying out reconnaissance and combat missions.

His counterpart at the EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Lamrode was confirmed as substantive chairman since February 15, 2012.

Murdered, just 5 days after his wedding

September 20, Just 2 days after his honeymoon, and 5 days after his wedding, this young man, Ugochukwu Ozuah, was murdered by men believed to be Lagos state police officers on patrol. The incident happened at about 10pm on Thursday evening as he was escorting a friend who came to pay him a courtesy visit.

The incident was narrated by his friend, Omene, who was with him at the time he was murdered. According to Omene, his late friend gave him a lift to UPS bus-stop along gbagada expressway in his Honda CRV car, after he visited the couple at their residence. On getting to the bus stop, an ash-blue coloured vehicle stopped by their car and armed police officers approached from the vehicle.



Nigerian Military storm Northern cities

Following security tip off about impending islamic attacks in some states in the north, the Nigerian military has stormed two Nigerian states, Adamawa and Yobe, to prevent any security breaches that may give way for islamist group attacks.

In Adamawa state, a dusk to dawn curfew has been imposed in Mubi, as security operatives of the JTF and the police are combing the town for possible hideouts of terrorist groups. A house to house search is being carried out in the area for possible guns, explosives and hideouts of terrorist groups. There are reports of tension in the city as fierce looking security personnel and patrols are seen everywhere.


Suicide bombing at Bauchi Catholic church

Just few days after security officials announced that they have killed and captured top Islamists in Kano, a suicide bomb yesterday (sunday) explodes in Bauchi state at St John's catholic cathedral in  bartyan gari, opposite Abubakar Tafawa Balewa stadium. Reports say at least 4 people were killed while more than 45 were injured. The bomb was exploded at the car park area of the church as the bomber could not gain access to the main church premises due to a barricade, the suicide bomber also died in the incident. The car used in the attack was identified as an Opel vectra sedan. The incident happened shortly before 9am just about the time the first mass got finished and worshipers started leaving the church. The injured persons are being treated at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa teaching hospital, Bauchi.

Massive Protest in Kano over Anti-Islam movie

There has been reported massive protest in kano by thousands of muslims over the anti-islam movie recently released in the United States which caused a lot of outrage and violence across the muslim word.

PM News reported that the crowd of protesters stretched several kilometers through the city, chanting slogans like “death to the enemies of Islam”. It is reported that the protest is being organized by the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, a pro-Iranian group that adheres to the shiite branch of islam, who have been in existence in Nigeria since the 1970s.
